Making Earrings: The Basics

Elegant but simple earrings are deceptively easy to make. My friend and I made several for a mutual friend’s birthday - they were nice and inexpensive, but more importantly, a ton of fun to make together.
1. Arrange your beads on the eyepin. Make sure to leave about 1.5cm at the end. 2. Take the plyers and bend the eyepin against the beads to create a 120¬? bend 3. Loop the bent eyepin in the eyelet at the bottom of the earhook. 4. Use plyers to secure the eyepin to the earhook. While this last step seems easy, it is actually the most difficult! It will probably take some practice to master. Now for some variations… A. If you want to make dangle earrings, attach a jumpring to the earhook. Next, fill 3-5 eyepins with complimentary colors and secure them to the jumpring. B. You can also get eyepins with eyelets. Attach a jumpring to the eyelet. You can use a shortened eyelet to secure a bead to the jumpring or use a charm made ready to attach. C. There are also superlong eyelets you can buy and bend to your will.
